The rapid evolution of fire safety engineering and fire modelling in the support of “Alternative Performance Based Design” of buildings has substantially outpaced the dissemination of information and education of persons who have traditionally assessed building compliancy and fire safety, the building surveyor.

Now that national accreditation scheme is available for building surveyors, along with a NSW based accreditation of fire safety engineers, there is a yard stick with which qualifications and experience can be measured.

The use of alternative performance based designs in buildings is becoming more common in the building regulation across the country, however the ability of building surveyors to be educationally updated is not.

Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions’ engineers are qualified in fire safety engineering, building surveying and other engineering disciplines to a level that allows us to undertake independent and peer reviews of building alternative performance designs.

Our principal is a NSW and Singapore accredited fire safety engineer, with some 20 years of fire fighting and alternative design experience. This, along with our network of qualified and experienced building surveyors’ operating in the private and public sectors (for over 10 years), places Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions in an ideal position to be able to undertake PEER REVIEW of alternative performance based building proposals.

Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions have extensive experience as fire safety engineers along with the facilities for zone and CFD modelling, evacuation modelling and other supporting infrastructure to allow us to carry out comprehensive PEER REVIEW alternative performance designs on behalf of our clients.

Our Engineers’ experience allows Engineered Fire & Safety Solutions to undertake comprehensive reviews of building, fire safety, fire protection and occupant warning egress and water supplies where the alternative design is of an interactive nature.

With the levels of liability on councils now a reality it is important to have access to appropriately qualified and experienced engineers when assessing building compliance and fire safety matters implicit in alternative performance base building design and approval.
